About the role
Preventive Maintenance Technicians are responsible for preventive maintenance tasks assigned by their Supervisor. They assist in training less skilled technicians, work unsupervised, and lead others.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all safety and health policies and procedures, maintaining a zero-injury mindset.
- Work unsupervised across the plant and distribution center.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the Preventive Maintenance Department.
- Assist with training and guidance of less skilled technicians.
- Wire electric motors, starters, and solenoids.
- Troubleshoot basic electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Perform minor fabrication using welders, torches, drill presses, saws, mills, and lathes.
- Read blueprints, schematics, and parts manuals.
- Suggest and create modifications for equipment improvements.
- Use variance reports and MP2 maintenance software to analyze equipment breakdown history and eliminate at least one recurring problem yearly.
- Communicate in simple English to receive instructions, interact with supervisors, and understand repair manuals and work orders.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Comply with current Quality System requirements.
- Complete hazardous waste training within six months of hire, with annual reviews, including proper management of hazardous waste, satellite accumulation containers, manifest preparation, and labeling.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management, including 5S cleaning.
Requirements
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, welders, grinders, torches, mills, lathes, and computers.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Capability to stand, walk, bend, twist, push, pull, and reach continuously for 12-hour shifts.
- Ability to perform repetitious work in extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid).
- Occasional lifting from grams up to 50 pounds.
- 1–2 years of mechanical background (Diesel, Auto Mechanics, or Industrial).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
