Prevention Services Paid Intern

About the role
The Paid Prevention Intern (PPI) is a 12-month, grant-funded, part-time position working and learning in a NYS OASAS Prevention program. This internship offers an entry-level pathway for individuals interested in the Prevention field and pursuing a Certified Prevention Professional (CPP) or Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) credential. Completion guarantees 60 hours of Prevention-specific education and training.
Responsibilities
- Learn the process of identifying community needs.
- Learn about and utilize Evidence Based Programs (EBP) to assess needs of individuals, families, and the community.
- Develop and implement Environmental Change Strategy efforts.
- Participate in community engagement; attend community meetings, collaborate with community coalitions and task forces, and strengthen community relationships.
- Work closely with community stakeholders including service providers, schools, law enforcement, and local businesses to provide prevention education and tools.
- Aid the agency with development and implementation of new workshops and initiatives to serve the community.
- Meet regularly with supervisor to receive necessary training and supervision to complete all tasks.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Adhere to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including those governing confidentiality, privacy, program, billing, and documentation.
- Demonstrate ethical business practices in accordance with all state and federal laws and regulations.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding all records reviewed, including consumer, employee, and billing records.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize duties.
- Ability to work in the following software programs: Windows, Microsoft Office, and multiple online software platforms as required by funders and partner organizations.
- Possess a valid NYS Driver’s license and a driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier.
- Continuous use of a reliable, registered, and insured vehicle.

Pay
$20.00 an hour
Schedule
20 hours per week. The actual distribution is very flexible to accommodate schooling.
