Pressure Relief Device (PRD) Engineer II

About the role

The PRD Engineer is responsible for analyzing overpressure scenarios, performing relief calculations, and developing pressure relief device designs to protect process systems and equipment. The role includes sizing and specifying relief valves and rupture discs, verifying compliance with applicable codes and standards, preparing technical documentation, and supporting process safety and design review activities.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering review and analysis assignments under minimal supervision of an experienced engineer or engineering manager
• Applies conventional knowledge in a particular field of engineering
• Reviews project plans to understand the scope, schedule and assigned work
• Identifies and quantifies overpressure scenario relief rate requirements and evaluates relief systems capacities
• Verifies the adequacy of relief/flare system design and installation
• Prepares written documents, reports and presentations for review by an experienced engineer or engineering manager
• Develops understanding of the technical requirements and challenges and provides suggested opportunities for enhancing effectiveness and efficiency in day-to-day job tasks
• Participates in client and team meetings
• Tracks and accurately reports hours spent on projects
• Works with individuals at all levels, provides input to reports and other deliverables, executes multiple assignments, meets agreed deadlines, and adjusts to changing client demands
• Performs quality assurance on project deliverables

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics or a related engineering/scientific discipline
• 2-4 years of relevant professional experience working with pressure relief devices, pressure vessels, and process safety systems
• A strong understanding of pressure relief calculations, relief valve sizing, overpressure scenarios, fluid dynamics, and applicable industry codes and standards
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities as outlined in the "What You Will Need" section

• US Citizenship required for roles supporting government contracts
