Born from many well-known and long-standing brands, Howmet Fastening Systems, headquartered in Torrance, California, is the premier designer and manufacturer of aerospace and industrial fasteners, latches, fluid fittings and installation tools. Our products are used nose to tail on commercial and military aircraft, as well as on jet engines, industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, wind turbines, solar power systems, and construction and industrial equipment.

  • Designs and develops new products and product families reducing global requirement to conceptual designs then detailed designs.
  • Performs critical analysis on design (DFMEA, Design of Experiments).
  • Communicates design requirements to other team members and evaluates designs to ensure project trajectory is consistent with product specifications.
  • Manages the production of prototypes, test units and subsequent manufacturing and testing to meet quality standards and planned schedules for delivery within target cost parameters.
  • Designs and prepares product drawings, operations sheets, process instructions, and maintains to latest revisions.
  • Determines manufacturing methodology and rates, material requirements, coordinates processing products with secondary operations suppliers, and enters into business management system.
  • Collaborates with various departments to integrate new products into the manufacturing system, and improves existing products by providing support on equipment, tooling and processes.
  • Confers with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and validate design.
  • Plans and designs trials, coordinates test programs and evaluates test results.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to simulate manufacturing processes.
  • Analyzes test data and cycle time to determine if design and process meet functional and performance targets.

Benefits/Salary

  • The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), excellent 401k matching program, paid holidays and vacation.
  • The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000.

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, with concentration in Manufacturing or Mechatronics
    • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in a high-precision industry (e.g., aerospace, medical devices, energy) that may include forging, machining, stamping and/or assembly
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
