Pressure Relief Device (PRD) Engineer II

About the role

As a Pressure Relief Device (PRD) Engineer II, you will analyze overpressure scenarios, perform relief calculations, and develop pressure relief device designs to protect process systems and equipment. This includes sizing and specifying relief valves and rupture discs, verifying compliance with applicable codes and standards, preparing technical documentation, and supporting process safety and design review activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering review and analysis assignments under minimal supervision of an experienced engineer or engineering manager.
  • Apply conventional knowledge in a particular field of engineering.
  • Review project plans to understand the scope, schedule, and assigned work.
  • Identify and quantify overpressure scenario relief rate requirements and evaluate relief systems capacities.
  • Verify the adequacy of relief/flare system design and installation.
  • Prepare written documents, reports, and presentations for review by an experienced engineer or engineering manager.
  • Develop understanding of technical requirements and challenges; suggest opportunities to enhance effectiveness and efficiency in day-to-day tasks.
  • Participate in client and team meetings.
  • Track and accurately report hours spent on projects.
  • Work with individuals at all levels, provide input to reports and other deliverables, execute multiple assignments, meet agreed deadlines, and adjust to changing client demands.
  • Perform quality assurance on project deliverables.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Engineering.
  • 2-4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in pressure relief analysis and flare system design and documentation (preferred).
  • Ability to gain, retain, and illustrate comprehension of learned technical knowledge.
  • Active listening skills to understand client needs by receiving shared information, determining context, and evaluating the information provided.
  • Openness to change as part of business evolution to meet client needs.
  • Firm understanding of key performance indicators and their significance to the business; takes action to drive results.

  • Ability to produce expected quantity and quality of work.
  • Ability to obtain a working knowledge of ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.
  • US Citizenship required for roles supporting government contracts.

Qualifications

  • Professional or chartered engineer license (preferred).
