About the role
This third-shift press operator role is responsible for setting up, adjusting, operating, and maintaining offset printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials. The position requires thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, equipment, and safety requirements, along with the ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs.
Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain offset press equipment
- Perform all make-ready tasks such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examining plates/cylinders for imperfections, checking correct positioning of images, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register
- Make necessary color corrections and press adjustments prior to production to meet quality specifications
- Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press; perform minor repairs and replace worn or broken parts
- Perform periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements
- Ability to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine appropriate press usage, settings, and materials
- Skill to make difficult precise settings of controls, adjustments, and perform routine operational maintenance
- Knowledge of the appropriate amount of packing pressure needed to obtain proper printing pressure for the job
- Skill in using a micrometer to mount and align printing plates correctly
Pay
The national pay range for this role is $22.00–$28.79 per hour. The actual pay offered may vary based on education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. This position includes a $2 per hour shift differential for third shift (7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, Monday–Thursday).
