About the Role

The Press Manager is responsible for overseeing pressroom operations and developing a high-performing production team. This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, and cost-effective results while driving continuous improvement across various printing processes. The Press Manager collaborates with multiple departments to meet customer specifications and business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead pressroom operations to achieve performance targets in safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction.
  • Build and sustain a safety-first culture by enforcing safety policies and ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Ensure product conformance to internal standards and customer specifications.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for print defects and process variations.
  • Drive on-time delivery by aligning labor, materials, and schedules across shifts.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance to improve press functionality and reliability.
  • Analyze production data and convert findings into actionable improvement plans.
  • Standardize best practices for press operations and related processes.
  • Set clear expectations for supervisors and operators, and develop employees.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of production records and documentation.
  • Maintain effective cross-shift communication and manage department supplies.
  • Support compliance with food safety, ISO, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
  • Compile and communicate department performance results to associates and management.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to establish goals, staffing plans, and improvement priorities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or technical degree preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing supervision or extensive knowledge of finishing operations.
  • Knowledge of flexographic/web handling and converting processes.
  • Ability to function effectively with limited supervision.
  • Thorough knowledge of all pressroom operations and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of production schedule and execution.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance procedures.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and training skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts.
  • Results oriented with strong time management skills.
  • Experience with 5S and in an ISO-13485 and/or SQF certified facility preferred.
  • Proficient in using computers, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong work ethics, integrity, and reliability.

Physical Requirements

  • Reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Must pass a color exam.
  • Frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Must lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
