Responsibilities
- Monitor local, state, and national media coverage in real time, including TV, print, digital, and social
- Compile and distribute daily press clips, including early morning and evening reports
- Flag breaking news, emerging narratives, and rapid response opportunities to the communications team
- Aid in drafting basic materials, such as press clips summaries, background memos, and draft statements
- Support press operations, including managing press lists, tracking reporter interactions, and helping coordinate interviews
- Maintain and update media databases and distribution lists
- Afford assistance with logistics for press events, including check-ins, materials prep, and on-site support
- Track coverage of the Governor, opponents, and key issues
Qualifications
- 0–2 cycles of experience or relevant internships in political communications, journalism, or media
- A strong interest in politics and media, with a habit of closely following the news cycle
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong writing and editing skills, even for quick-turn materials
- The ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed
- Comfortable working under pressure and managing multiple priorities
- Familiarity with New York politics and media landscape is a plus
