Responsibilities

  • Monitor local, state, and national media coverage in real time, including TV, print, digital, and social
  • Compile and distribute daily press clips, including early morning and evening reports
  • Flag breaking news, emerging narratives, and rapid response opportunities to the communications team
  • Aid in drafting basic materials, such as press clips summaries, background memos, and draft statements
  • Support press operations, including managing press lists, tracking reporter interactions, and helping coordinate interviews
  • Maintain and update media databases and distribution lists
  • Afford assistance with logistics for press events, including check-ins, materials prep, and on-site support
  • Track coverage of the Governor, opponents, and key issues

Qualifications

  • 0–2 cycles of experience or relevant internships in political communications, journalism, or media
  • A strong interest in politics and media, with a habit of closely following the news cycle
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong writing and editing skills, even for quick-turn materials
  • The ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • Comfortable working under pressure and managing multiple priorities
  • Familiarity with New York politics and media landscape is a plus
