Preservice Scheduling Specialist Full Time

About the role

Responsible for pre-registration, scheduling, electronically verifying insurance eligibility, and accurately identifying and collecting patient financial responsibility. Handles complex scheduled events, including high dollar testing, associated studies, and those with study-specific instructions, and communicates effectively to service delivery areas to maximize patient flow and customer service. Begins the overall patient experience and initiates the billing process for any services provided by the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registration and scheduling of patient appointments
• Electronic verification of insurance eligibility
• Accurate identification and collection of patient financial responsibility
• Management of complex scheduled events, including high dollar testing and associated studies
• Communication with service delivery areas to optimize patient flow and customer service
• Initiation of the billing process for services provided

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Two to five years of experience in scheduling, financial clearance, or patient access
• National certification in HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one year of hire
• Proficiency in the use of Patient Registration/Patient Accounting systems and related software systems

Additional Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Associates Degree
• Comprehensive knowledge of scheduling with mastery in at least three or more modalities and insurance verification processes
• Three years of scheduling experience in an acute care setting
• Experience in complex facility-based ancillary testing across multiple facilities/states
• Strong knowledge of third-party and government payer billing and reimbursement guidelines
• Knowledge of department performance standards and policies and procedures
