About the role

News24 is the new brand name for Sky News Australia. After 30 years as an innovator in the news industry, the network has adopted a new brand name and is expanding its world-leading news and commentary digital strategy. As one of the top 10 most viewed English-language news channels in the world on YouTube, this new role is a unique opportunity to join an established news brand with global reach which also has the agility, dynamism and ambition of a startup brand.

As a News24 US Presenter, based in the USA, you will be the lead voice and face hosting a daily opinion show tackling major global issues, international politics, and current affairs across News24s broadcast and digital platforms. You bring a sharp editorial vision, high-energy on-screen authority, and the ability to command a fast-paced broadcast environment.

Responsibilities

  • Host a Daily Opinion Show: Drive and anchor a daily flagship opinion show focused on global affairs, international politics, and breaking news, establishing a strong, agenda-setting presence.
  • Editorial Leadership: Work closely with your production team and Executive Producer to pitch bold angles, refine show rundowns, and construct compelling monologues that drive ratings and spark debate.
  • High-Impact Interviewing: Conduct sharp, insightful, and fearless interviews with high-profile guests.
  • Content Generation: Write and deliver sharp on-air editorial commentary, scripts, and collaborate with the digital producing team.
  • Live Control Room Collaboration: Command the studio during live broadcasts, communicating effectively with control room producers, technical directors, and field reporters during high-pressure or breaking news situations.
  • Digital Integration: Partner with digital teams to adapt key show segments, monologues, and digital-first clips to maximize audience reach across News24’s online platforms.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure all show content meets News24’s quality control standards, adheres to relevant legal parameters, and strictly complies with broadcasting codes.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record as a broadcast television host, anchor, or presenter with extensive experience in live broadcasting.
  • Deep, authoritative knowledge of global politics, current affairs, and major world events.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the gravitas to challenge guests from politicians to business leaders and foreign correspondents.
  • Strong writing ability, capable of crafting punchy monologues, sharp questions, and engaging script copy under strict deadline pressure.
  • Familiarity with newsroom workflows and rundown systems (such as ENPS) is ideal, alongside a strong understanding of control room dynamics.
  • Highly adaptable, resilient under live breaking news pressure, and maintaining a collaborative approach with producers and technical crews.
  • In-office presence required, with flexibility around working hours to adapt to shifting global news cycles and show demands.
  • Thorough knowledge of News24 products, editorial tone, and brand values.
  • Strong working knowledge of media law, defamation, and broadcasting codes.
  • Must have a very good knowledge of global politics and current affairs, and a good understanding of news events occurring elsewhere in the world.
  • Take a hands-on approach to story selection, research, and script writing with the ability to plan highly viral online segments, react in real-time to breaking news, and conduct sharp interviews with guests.
  • Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Must be willing to learn and adapt to new working practices and contribute to new programs.
  • Ability to work independently when required and to carry out assignments that are not part of the day-to-day routine.
