About the Role

Under the direction of a program administrator, implement a center-based education program for eligible preschool children assuring compliance with the Performance Standards of Head Start or State required program and other appropriate guidelines; develop education plans to meet assessed needs; interpret family and child eligibility for federal and State programs.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (required).
  • Two years experience providing instruction to children in an early childhood setting (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (desirable).
  • California Child Development Teacher Permit or higher level permit.
  • Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Transcripts (unofficial or official at the time of application).
  • Must be 18 years old.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must provide own transportation; if using own vehicle, must have proof of insurance.
  • Must comply with Senate Bill 792 immunization requirements for influenza, pertussis, and measles.

The following documents are NOT required at time of application, but will be required if offered employment:

  • DOJ/FBI/CACI Fingerprint clearance.
  • Tuberculosis clearance.
  • Physical/drug screen clearance.
  • Official transcripts.

Benefits

  • Benefit entitlement for health, dental, and vision coverage for positions that are at least 4 hours per day. The amount of the entitlement is based on the number of hours worked per day.

Pay

Pay range: $25.91 - $32.35 per hour (Range 12 CFS CSEA Classified Salary Schedule). Initial salary placement is restricted to a maximum of Step 3 ($28.98).

Schedule

  • 195 paid days; 184 workdays per year.
  • 8 hours per day (7:00 am - 3:30 pm).
  • Full-time employment.
