Preschool Teacher Assistant - School Calendar

About the role
We are on the lookout for Assistant Teachers to support our daycare classrooms. In this part-time role (7:45 AM–1:00 PM or 8:45 AM–2:00 PM), you will work in an inclusion preschool setting alongside our phenomenal team of Certified Lead Teachers and Special Education Teachers to support children ages 3 to 5 years. The position follows the school calendar plus 6 weeks of summer school, with unpaid breaks and holidays off. There is opportunity for growth into a full-time Teaching Assistant role, as well as an option for a childcare assistant apprenticeship with free college courses in early childhood.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional care and instruction to preschool children.
- Support the development and education of children within our inclusive classrooms, assisting the Lead Teacher and Special Education Teacher.
- Teach developmentally appropriate academic and social skills to prepare children for kindergarten through language-based, whole group, small group, and one-on-one interactions.
- Help create a positive, engaging, and structured learning environment where children are encouraged to be curious and excited to learn.
- Implement effective classroom management.
- Set and reinforce classroom expectations and routines.

- Preferred but not required: An active NYS Teacher Assistant certification (we will pay for your certification).
