Position Summary

The YMCA of Southern Nevada is seeking an Assistant Preschool Teacher to support the lead teacher in classroom activities and child development.

Responsibilities

  • Interact, initiate, and encourage children in daily activities.
  • Help manage children's behavior using positive and appropriate methods.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and address their concerns.
  • Aid in activity planning and provide suggestions when needed.
  • Develop a cooperative atmosphere within the classroom.
  • Assist the lead teacher in record-keeping and observation documentation.

Abuse Risk Management Functions

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with children.
  • Attend required abuse risk management training.
  • Follow procedures for managing high-risk activities and supervising children.
  • Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and six semester hours of early or elementary childhood study required.
  • Two years' experience in early or elementary childcare preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English strongly preferred.
  • Strong skills in communication, leadership, judgment, and creativity.
  • Minimum age of 18.
