About the role
The Preschool Director at Good Shepherd School is responsible for leading the preschool program, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise the daily operation of the preschool program.
- Ensure compliance with all Kentucky licensing, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate preschool staff.
- Maintain required staff-to-child ratios and appropriate classroom coverage.
- Oversee curriculum implementation and support developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
- Foster positive relationships with students, families, staff, and the school community.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, program activities, and concerns.
- Maintain accurate student, staff, attendance, health, and licensing records.
- Cook up enrollment, registration, and retention efforts.
- Aid with budget planning, purchasing, and management of preschool resources.
- Ensure staff complete required training, certifications, and continuing education.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and nurturing environment through effective health, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Pastor.
Qualifications
- Meet Kentucky Preschool Director licensing requirements, including:
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred; other qualifying credentials and experience accepted under Kentucky regulations.
- Minimum four (4) years of documented experience in a licensed or certified child care, preschool, Head Start, or school setting.
- Supervisory or lead teacher experience preferred.
- Completion of required Kentucky pre-service and annual continuing education training.
- Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.
- Successful completion of all required state and federal background checks and health requirements.
