About the role
The Preschool Classroom Assistant (“assistant”) will be responsible for adhering to all training and instructional requirements of the Medford School District, the Department of Education (DOE), and the Department of Children and Families (DCF).
Responsibilities
- Support the classroom teacher in implementing curriculum consistent with goals and objectives of YMCA of the Pines and the Medford School District;
- Maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom;
- Aid in evaluating pupils’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports and student evaluations;
- Maintain professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education activities provided by YMCA of the Pines and Medford School District, performance evaluations, and selected professional growth activities as described in individual professional improvement plans and other relevant education opportunities;
- Maintain the health and safety of all pupils, including, but not limited to application of basic first aid, support with diapering and toileting, and assistance with general health and hygiene;
- Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day;
- Uphold and enforce program rules and DCF requirements;
- Perform such other tasks and assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to pass multiple background checks;
- General knowledge of preschool developmental milestones;
- Ability to pass state and YMCA mandated training programs;
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed;
- Ability to organize and coordinate work;
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents;
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth;
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work;

Pay
USD $18.00 - USD $22.00 /Hr.
Schedule
Part-time, 830am - 345 pm, with monthly staff meetings following the traditional workday and attendance at evening events throughout the school year.
