Preschool Classroom Assistant

Overview

Utah State University Uintah Basin's Little Aggies Preschool is seeking a reliable and student-centered Preschool Classroom Assistant to support the daily operation of its early childhood classroom. This position works closely with the lead teacher to help provide a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool-age children. The Preschool Classroom Assistant will support classroom routines and learning activities, assist with supervision and preparation of materials, and lead small groups of children in planned educational activities. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, dependability, positive communication skills, and a willingness to learn and contribute as part of a collaborative classroom team.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with young children

Preferred Qualifications:

• A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or an associate's, bachelor's, or higher degree in early childhood education, child development, education, or a related field is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic knowledge and understanding of child development
• Ability to assist the lead teacher with classroom activities, routines, and supervision
• Ability to lead small-group activities with preschool-age children
• Strong dependability, punctuality, and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and work collaboratively

Pay

$15-18/hour, based on experience

Schedule

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

ADA

The position requires considerable physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including lifting (35 pounds) and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects. Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting.
