About the role

The Preschool offers a supportive and engaging environment for both students and staff. As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting the teacher with implementing child activities, setting up the classroom, and ensuring a safe and efficient learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with children aged 3 to 5
  • Work approximately 35 hours per week (8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.) during the school year, in accordance with the school calendar. The schedule includes 30 minutes before and after class for daily preparation.
  • Affirm the teacher with implementing child activities
  • Set up and maintain an organized classroom environment
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students
  • Adhere to program regulations and guidelines
  • Provide coverage as needed for other duties or positions
  • Add additional hours for duties such as light cleaning, child transportation, and break coverage
  • Maintain open communication with your supervisor
  • Attend required meetings and on-the-job training
  • Monitor and respond to work email as part of daily responsibilities
  • Practice social responsibility by checking email daily and responding in a timely manner
  • Maintain a professional attitude and confidentiality concerning information about CenClear staff, children, parents, consumers/clients, and families

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Individuals must have or be willing to obtain the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential with hire. This training is paid for by CenClear.
  • If an individual does not have a CDA, they must be willing to attend the Highly Qualified training while pursuing a CDA within 90 days of hire.
  • Working phone in your home
  • Documented good physical health
  • Must obtain the following clearances prior to hire: PA State Police Criminal History, PA Child Abuse History, FBI Criminal History, and Mandated Reporting Certificate

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.

Skills

  • Ability to work with children aged 3 to 5
  • Physical abilities to lift and carry objects over fifty (50) pounds, bend to a child's level, stand for extended periods of time, sit at child size tables, participate in gross motor activities, walk and stand for periods of over one hour, hold children on their lap, climb stairs, operate kitchen appliances, sweep and other cleaning apparatus (push and pull), sit on the floor for over thirty minutes, vision and hearing within normal limits, hand wash and rinse dishes using chemical disinfectants, clean various surfaces using chemical disinfectants

Pay

$14.21 per hour

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 7 hours per day, during the school year following a work calendar
