Position Overview
The Center Director is responsible for the overall daily operation, management, and leadership of the childcare center. In this role, you will ensure a safe, high-quality, and nurturing educational environment by maintaining compliance with NC Pre-K guidelines, Head Start Performance Standards, and the NC Department of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE).
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations to ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal standards, including Early Head Start, Head Start, NC Pre-K, and CACFP Food Program regulations.
- Work directly with classroom staff to ensure curriculum is implemented to fidelity. Participate in training for Creative Curriculum, Reflective Supervision, CLASS, MMCI, and CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and mentoring center staff. Conduct reflective supervision to support team growth and professional development.
- Serve as a member of the site team responding to classroom behavioral needs and creating a supportive learning environment.
- Actively engage families to build strong partnerships, help them navigate program requirements, and advocate passionately for the needs of your center’s children, families, and staff.
- Data & Safety: Utilize ChildPlus for data management and reporting. Maintain a safe environment by proactively identifying and resolving workplace safety hazards.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or a related field from an accredited institution recognized by the NC DCDEE.
- Credentials: North Carolina Child Care Administrator Credential (Level III).
- Experience: Three years of experience administering/directing an NC-licensed 5-Star childcare facility.
- PREFERRED: Prior experience with Early Head Start, Head Start, or NC Pre-K programs.
