Preschool Bus Driver

Responsibilities

• Transport school-age children (ages 5 through 12) twice per day, once for drop off in the morning and another for pick-up in the afternoon from their local school(s).
• Occasionally assist with field trips and grocery runs.
• Adhere to all driving regulations, traffic laws and The Goddard School policies for child safety.
• Assist children as they enter and exit the bus and are wearing seatbelts properly.
• Perform daily maintenance/safety checks which includes checking brakes, tires, lights, and other essential components on the bus before and after trips.
• Keep accurate records of routes, child attendance, and any incidents.
• Keep the bus clean and organized, including removing trash and ensuring all safety equipment is readily accessible.
• Communicate effectively with The Goddard School staff and families regarding transport schedules and safety protocols.

Requirements

• Part-time 15-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
• Position is for the school year (approximately 9.5 months); alternative options may be available for the remaining months.
• Route is expected to take approximately 60 minutes, but is subject to adjustment based on number of children.
• The Goddard School bus is small with a maximum capacity of 16 children.
• Be punctual, dependable and show empathy and compassion for young children.
• Serve as a positive role model for the children, exhibiting patience, kindness, and respect at all times.
• Flexible and adaptable to changes in schedules, routes, or other circumstances that may arise during the course of transporting children.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
