About the Role

This role contributes to the Y's mission by assisting the classroom teacher in implementing activities and assignments that meet long-range learning objectives. You will ensure the health, welfare, and safety of children enrolled in our program and create an environment that fosters their social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing clear, well-organized activities and assignments aligned with long-range learning objectives.
• Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of children in the program.
• Create an environment that supports the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child in your care.

Requirements

• Enthusiasm for young children
• Patience and good humor
• Good judgment and a good spirit
• The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates
• Prior early childhood experience (preferred)
• A high school degree or GED
• 90-hour child care certification and/or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education

Qualifications

• Passionate about making a difference in the lives of young children
• Ability to follow The Code of Conduct with Youth
• Completion of training on child abuse prevention

• Ability to work well with children and adults
• Knowledge of early childhood education principles
