About the role
The Preschool Assistant Teacher supports teaching staff in Head Start classrooms, focusing on the social and emotional development of children from 3 to 5 years old. This role involves implementing a child-centered curriculum, addressing challenging behaviors, and fostering positive interactions.
Responsibilities
- Implements a child-centered curriculum and learning environment
- Social and emotional development of children
- Addresses challenging behaviors through observation and intervention
- Gathers and maintains data for documentation and evaluation
- Encourages family involvement and partnership
- Maintains a safe, healthy learning environment
- Conducts daily health checks
- Participates in meetings, events, and training
Requirements
- CDA credential, or coursework on track for completion within one year of hire
- Early Childhood Education degree with at least nine (9) credits in Early Childhood Education, or enrollment in a related degree program
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Physical exam and background check required
