Preschool Assistant Teacher

About the role

The Preschool Assistant Teacher supports teaching staff in Head Start classrooms, focusing on the social and emotional development of children from 3 to 5 years old. This role involves implementing a child-centered curriculum, addressing challenging behaviors, and fostering positive interactions.

Responsibilities

• Implements a child-centered curriculum and learning environment
• Social and emotional development of children
• Addresses challenging behaviors through observation and intervention
• Gathers and maintains data for documentation and evaluation
• Encourages family involvement and partnership
• Maintains a safe, healthy learning environment
• Conducts daily health checks
• Participates in meetings, events, and training

Requirements

• CDA credential, or coursework on track for completion within one year of hire
• Early Childhood Education degree with at least nine (9) credits in Early Childhood Education, or enrollment in a related degree program
• CPR and First Aid certification
• Physical exam and background check required
