About the role
The Prep Cook assists in food preparation including preparing, chopping and portioning ingredients as directed by chefs and cooks. They maintain kitchen cleanliness and ensure all ingredients are ready for the cooking staff. This role is essential in helping to maintain a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness
- Ensure all ingredients are ready for the cooking staff
- Help with more complex tasks such as making sauces, baking, and frying
- Take on other duties as assigned

- Previous experience in a kitchen environment preferred
- Knowledge of food safety practices

Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hour shifts
- Lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs)
- Must be able to bend, stretch and reach for extended periods of time

- Frequent use of hands and fingers; ability to feel and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to stoop, kneel, and crouch
Work Environment
- While performing the core functions of the position, you are usually indoors, in a confined kitchen environment, but may also be rostered to work outdoors in a natural and variable environment.
- The position can also involve regularly moving between warm (kitchen) and cold (cool room) locations.
- Moderate machine and crowd noise levels exist in the working environment.
Starting Rate
The starting rate for this role is $18.00 per hour.
Shifts / Night Work / Availability / Working Conditions
Ability to work a flexible scheduling including nights and weekends required.
