Overview
The Policy Accounting department is responsible for processing premium payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting policy servicing functions. This role supports both internal teams and external policyholders and plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely premium processing, customer support, and financial transactions within established guidelines and service level expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate and administer on-demand premium drafting via telephony software for policyholders, following department guidelines and compliance regulations.
- Apply incoming premiums for life and annuity products in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Process refunds for overpaid premiums and complete basic accounting transactions between company accounts.
- Review suspense entries, restricted or suspended policies, and resolve routine customer inquiries.
- Handle phone inquiries from internal and external customers while delivering strong customer service.
- Support additional departmental duties based on business needs and individual capacity.
Required Qualifications
- Basic understanding of accounting principles.
- Familiarity with customer service and financial services concepts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including phone-based customer interaction.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and high-quality output.
- Able to multitask and manage workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and contribute as a team player.
- Willingness to learn and grow through cross-training and expanded responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of systems such as NBUW, Vantage, AWD, Navision, PAS, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word (preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in insurance, financial services, or payment processing environments.
- Exposure to Americo systems and internal processes.
- Prior experience handling high-volume transactions or customer inquiries.
