About the role
The Premium Audit team at Texas Mutual plays a crucial role in ensuring that policyholders are charged the correct workers' compensation premiums. This position involves conducting thorough reviews, interviews, and audits to determine the true earned premium.
Responsibilities
- Determine the policyholder's true earned workers' compensation premium
- Conduct reviews, interviews, and audits on the policyholder’s premises
- Analyze financial reconciliations to ensure they match the policyholder's payroll records
- Determine appropriate job classification codes for policyholder employees
- Reconcile job classification codes with those reported and adjust premium accordingly
- Apply IRS revenue rulings and workers' compensation statutes and rules to determine independent contractor relationships
- Use Texas Basic Manual Rules, Classifications, and Rates for Workers' Compensation to determine proper premium basis
- Communicate information professionally to policyholders, agents, and customers
- Recommend proper accounting procedures to policyholders
- Identify potential premium fraud and refer cases to the Special Investigations Department
- Contribute to the effectiveness of Underwriting and Safety Services by providing relevant information
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, and experience
- At least two years’ premium audit experience for non-senior roles, and at least four years for senior roles
- Knowledge of underwriting principles and procedures, the NCCI Basic Manual of rules, and Texas labor codes
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- Potential for CPCU or Associate in Premium Audit designation
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish (would be great to have)

The base pay range is based on the market evaluation of the job and may include pay for multiple levels. Individual base pay is determined by a variety of factors, including experience, performance, education, and demonstrated skills and competencies.
