About the role

Responsibilities

• Determine the policyholder's true earned workers' compensation premium
• Conduct reviews, interviews, and audits on policyholder premises
• Analyze financial reconciliations to ensure accuracy
• Review payroll records and adjust premiums accordingly
• Classify employees appropriately based on job roles and interview policyholders
• Apply IRS revenue rulings and workers' compensation statutes to determine contractor vs. employee status
• Use Texas Basic Manual Rules for premium calculations
• Communicate with policyholders and agents about proper classifications
• Recommend and document premium audit procedures
• Train staff, policyholders, and agents on auditing
• Serve as a subject matter expert on premium audit projects
• Assist in managing departmental workflow and resources
• Consult on complex premium audit matters

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, and experience
• At least two years' premium audit experience for non-senior role, four years for senior role
• Knowledge of underwriting principles and procedures, NCCI Basic Manual of rules, and Texas labor codes
• Valid Texas driver’s license
• Potential for CPCU or Associate in Premium Audit designation
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish (preferred)

• Proficiency in communication, both verbal and written
• Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with payroll and financial reconciliation systems
• Understanding of workers' compensation laws and regulations
• Knowledge of Texas labor codes and IRS revenue rulings

Schedule

Texas Mutual offers a flexible hybrid work environment where employees can work remotely and collaborate in the office based on business needs. All employees must have Texas residency and travel to their designated office as needed.
