About the role

Responsibilities
- Determine the policyholder's true earned workers' compensation premium
- Conduct reviews, interviews, and audits on policyholder premises
- Analyze financial reconciliations to ensure accuracy
- Review payroll records and adjust premiums accordingly
- Classify employees appropriately based on job roles and interview policyholders
- Apply IRS revenue rulings and workers' compensation statutes to determine contractor vs. employee status
- Use Texas Basic Manual Rules for premium calculations
- Communicate with policyholders and agents about proper classifications
- Recommend and document premium audit procedures
- Train staff, policyholders, and agents on auditing
- Serve as a subject matter expert on premium audit projects
- Assist in managing departmental workflow and resources
- Consult on complex premium audit matters
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, and experience
- At least two years' premium audit experience for non-senior role, four years for senior role
- Knowledge of underwriting principles and procedures, NCCI Basic Manual of rules, and Texas labor codes
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- Potential for CPCU or Associate in Premium Audit designation
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish (preferred)
Skills
- Proficiency in communication, both verbal and written
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with payroll and financial reconciliation systems
- Understanding of workers' compensation laws and regulations
- Knowledge of Texas labor codes and IRS revenue rulings
