Premier Truck Technician / Mechanic - Swing Shift

About the Role

Pape’ Kenworth, a premier medium and heavy-duty truck and equipment dealer in the West, is seeking a Premier Truck Technician / Mechanic to join our team in San Leandro, CA. This role is ideal for a master-level technician who takes pride in precision diagnostics, advanced repairs, and leading shop excellence. You’ll oversee complex repairs, mentor other technicians, and ensure every truck leaves in peak condition while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision diagnostics and advanced repairs on medium and heavy-duty Class 7 & 8 trucks.
• Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, axles, steering, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, and air systems.
• Execute preventive maintenance programs to ensure long-term reliability for customers.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to other technicians to enhance team performance and technical capability.
• Lead by example in upholding safety, quality, and professionalism in all tasks.
• Minimize customer downtime by ensuring repairs are completed correctly the first time.
• Promote teamwork and a culture of continuous improvement within the shop.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience working on all makes and models of medium and heavy-duty Class 7/8 trucks, including engine repair, electronic troubleshooting, HVAC systems, and chassis repair.
• Kenworth Essentials certifications preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge; Cummins and MX software experience preferred.
• Self-motivation and assertiveness with the ability to work under little or no supervision.
• Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
• Must provide own tools.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM (Swing Shift).

Pay

$57.25–$62.25 per hour, depending on experience.
