PreK Special Ed Teacher - Dyer Elementary

About the role

The Pre-Kindergarten Special Education Teacher delivers specially designed instruction (SDI) to preschool-age children with disabilities within an inclusive PreK setting. Working in partnership with general education early childhood staff, the teacher co-plans and co-teaches so that SDI is embedded into the daily routines, play-based activities, and learning centers of the classroom. The teacher serves as case manager for assigned students, ensuring IEPs are developed, implemented, and monitored in compliance with Maine and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Delivers specially designed instruction (SDI) to preschool-age children with disabilities within an inclusive PreK setting.
• Works in partnership with general education early childhood staff, co-planning and co-teaching to embed SDI into daily routines, play-based activities, and learning centers.
• Serves as case manager for assigned students, ensuring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) are developed, implemented, and monitored in compliance with Maine and federal regulations.

Requirements

• Maine DOE certification: Endorsement 282 (Teacher of Children with Disabilities, birth–school age 5)
• Endorsement 081 (Early Childhood, birth–age 5) preferred as a second endorsement
