Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required (Master's preferred) in Early Childhood or Early Childhood Special Education
- Holds or is eligible for Maine DOE Certification 282 (Teacher of Students with Disabilities, BirthGrade 5)
- Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience in an early childhood special education classroom
- Experience supervising Educational Technicians (Ed Techs)
- Strong knowledge of early childhood special education best practices
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Successful completion of background check, fingerprinting, and reference checks

- Reports To Special Education Director
- Assistant Special Education Director
- Consults with Special Education PreK Strategist
- Collaborates With PreK general education teachers
- Related service providers
- K5 Extended Support Program team
Skills
- Ensures consistent adherence to health and safety standards
- Plans and implements lessons, activities, and therapeutic strategies
- Fosters student development across social, emotional, physical, and cognitive domains
- Aligns instruction with district curriculum and scope and sequence
- Develops, implements, and maintains compliance with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Maintains regular communication with families
- Collaborates with behavior specialists to implement behavior support plans
- Supervises and directs Ed Tech staff
- Utilizes technology to support communication and learning needs
- Completes daily attendance, documentation, and billing requirements
- Supports students with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Responds to emergencies using CPR and crisis intervention protocols
