Preference Card Analyst

Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining an accurate, efficient and data-driven preference card system across multiple sites. Helps develop and adhere to preference card accuracy, updates, and performs other related duties to decrease intraoperative expense and waste for the hospital system. Collaborates with service line clinicians and physicians to identify the resources and preferences for specific procedures, including surgical materials, equipment, instructions, and setup.

Position Responsibilities

  • Analyze data to identify opportunities for cost savings and reduce waste.
  • Clean up and maintain supply inventory on existing preference cards and create new preference cards in conjunction with surgical services leadership team.
  • Maintain crosswalk and other master file synchronization, as applicable.
  • Develop protocols for updating, eliminating, archiving, and/or consolidating preference cards through collaboration with clinicians and physicians.
  • Identify wasteful use/return of supplies and limit unnecessary delays in delivery of common goods to the Perioperative environment.
  • Ensure accurate building, modification, and synchronization of physician preference cards and inventory dictionaries with designated hospital clinicians, analysts, and/or leaders.
  • Maintain effective communication with all customers.
  • Continually collaborate with sterile technicians, Perioperative leaders, charge capture personnel, vendors, and revenue integrity, as well as clinical information systems (e.g., EPIC OPTIME).
  • Create new cards for new surgeons (creation of new cards; review supply and instrument requirements formulary and non-formulary).
  • Attend applicable Clinical Resource Management meetings and Surgical Departmental meetings as applicable.
  • Attend conferences and continuing education as applicable.
  • Participate in departmental projects and provide expertise. Work with Perioperative Leaders and Perioperative Supply Chain Manager on all Perioperative Supply Cost management projects, including physical inventory counts, system implementations, product changes, and product substitution initiatives.

Position Qualifications Required

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of surgical experience required.
  • Technical skills – demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and others as required.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical record systems.
  • Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills, and comprehensive job knowledge.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduate from accredited school of nursing preferred, will consider experienced graduate from Surgical Technology Program.
  • BLS (or applicable surgical technologist certification) required.

Pay

The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
