About the role
The Materials Physics Center (MPC) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the “Electronic Excitations in Surfaces and Nanostructures” group. The successful candidate will work on developing innovative theoretical frameworks that bridge realistic material physics with quantum computing architectures.
Responsibilities
- Work with Research Scientist Andrés Ayuela
- Focus on the theoretical description of materials with emerging quantum properties, including 2D materials, molecular quantum magnetism, and spintronic materials in the THz regime
- Contribute to the development of novel theoretical frameworks that integrate material physics with quantum computing architectures
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, or a related field
- Strong background in theoretical condensed matter physics
- Experience with quantum computing and/or materials modeling is a plus
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Interest in interdisciplinary research
- Strong publication record
Skills
- Proficiency in computational methods for materials science
- Knowledge of quantum mechanics and statistical physics
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Fortran, or C++
