About the role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Preconstruction Manager to lead and coordinate the preconstruction process for a variety of commercial construction projects. This role will work closely with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and internal project teams to ensure projects are accurately planned, properly budgeted, and positioned for successful execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead preconstruction efforts from project pursuit through construction start.
  • Manage and coordinate the design development process for commercial construction projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Facilitate design and preconstruction meetings, ensuring deliverables and milestones are met.
  • Review drawings and specifications for constructability, completeness, and potential project risks.
  • Collaborate with estimating, operations, and project management teams to evaluate design changes, value engineering opportunities, and budget impacts.
  • Support due diligence activities, site assessments, and project planning efforts.
  • Monitor project budgets, schedules, and scope throughout the preconstruction phase.
  • Identify potential challenges early and develop proactive solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, design teams, subcontractors, and key project stakeholders.
  • Assist with proposal development, conceptual budgeting, and project strategy discussions.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial construction preconstruction, project management, estimating, or design-build environments.
  • Experience working for a General Contractor is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing commercial projects during the preconstruction and design phases.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, design coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and constructability reviews.
  • Experience collaborating with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of commercial building systems, construction methods, and project delivery processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
