Precision Machine Operator - Off shift

Shifts Available: Afternoon (3 PM - 11 PM), Midnight (11 PM - 7 AM)

Responsibilities

  • Machine plano and cylinder mirrors and lens components to size requirements specified in drawings, engineering specifications, or Coherent standard specifications using a diamond flycut machine.
  • Handle all parts carefully to prevent damage.
  • Measure critical dimensions of parts prior to processing to ensure they meet blank specifications.
  • Control and verify part thickness and figure; routinely measure parts to guarantee compliance with specifications.
  • Understand and utilize correct machine setup, including tool set-up for various materials according to established procedures.
  • Accurately balance the flywheel and make head tilt adjustments.
  • Maintain process notes to record key manufacturing parameters and issues; follow work instructions and use work order report sheets to document process variations.
  • Accurately document first-time yield.
  • Work independently to solve minor problems on the diamond flycutter; report the nature and solution of problems to the supervisor or shift lead as appropriate.
  • Accurately wand production activities; complete quality documentation, machine maintenance, and incident reports as required.
  • Develop a strong understanding of QA procedures for testing flycut diamond-turned components.
  • Multitask and run multiple machines to maximize production output without errors.
  • Report errors and accidents immediately to the shift lead, maintenance supervisor, or engineers; support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Verify all setups to prevent machine crashes.
  • Follow all Coherent and departmental safety practices and procedures at all times.
  • Maintain an organized work area.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained based on preventative schedules; promptly report maintenance requirements, machine, or utility anomalies to the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • 0-2 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Due to ITAR compliance, this position requires candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

  • Clean room environment within a manufacturing plant.
  • Use of high-precision machines and metrology equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Long periods of standing.
  • Consistent attention to several pieces of equipment and ability to multitask effectively.
  • High degree of concentration.
  • Working with chemicals, cleaning solvents, toxic, and hazardous materials.

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to follow site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of ISO 9000, 9001, 14001, and/or other applicable standards relevant to roles within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
