Precision Grinder Machinist
Position Responsibilities
- Set up and operate surface grinding machines to produce high precision components to exacting specifications.
- Operate various other machine tools as assigned.
- Regularly interface with product engineering and manufacturing engineering.
- Perform special projects with minimum direction using prints or verbal instructions.
- Work collaboratively with others, including instructing or training others as requested.
- Complete necessary paperwork as required to record volume and production time.
- Properly maintain equipment to ensure efficient operation.
- Operate safely and follow all safety procedures.
- Stand for extended periods, reach with both hands, and bend as necessary. Frequent lifting up to 40 lbs. regularly.
Essential Skills And Experience
- Ability to grind and machine a variety of materials.
- Experience in determining feed rates and operating speeds.
- Experience in tooling and selecting grinding wheels.
- Experience using a broad range of measuring instruments, gauges, and electronic indicators.
- Experience using computers in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience using handling equipment such as pallet jacks and lifting cranes.
Education
- A high school diploma and/or advanced technical training.
- At least 2 years of equivalent experience in a similar environment.
- Must demonstrate a high degree of machining skills sufficient for this position.
