Precision Grinder Machinist

Position Responsibilities

• Set up and operate surface grinding machines to produce high precision components to exacting specifications.
• Operate various other machine tools as assigned.
• Regularly interface with product engineering and manufacturing engineering.
• Perform special projects with minimum direction using prints or verbal instructions.
• Work collaboratively with others, including instructing or training others as requested.
• Complete necessary paperwork as required to record volume and production time.
• Properly maintain equipment to ensure efficient operation.
• Operate safely and follow all safety procedures.
• Stand for extended periods, reach with both hands, and bend as necessary. Frequent lifting up to 40 lbs. regularly.

Essential Skills And Experience

• Ability to grind and machine a variety of materials.
• Experience in determining feed rates and operating speeds.
• Experience in tooling and selecting grinding wheels.
• Experience using a broad range of measuring instruments, gauges, and electronic indicators.
• Experience using computers in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience using handling equipment such as pallet jacks and lifting cranes.

Education

• A high school diploma and/or advanced technical training.
• At least 2 years of equivalent experience in a similar environment.
• Must demonstrate a high degree of machining skills sufficient for this position.
