Saratoga Hospital is part of the Albany Med Health System, committed to high-quality, compassionate care. The Pre-Service Specialist I (PSS) plays a crucial role in scheduling, verifying insurance, and collecting payments.

Responsibilities

  • Answering scheduling phone calls for assigned clinics or modalities within a scheduling POD.
  • Accurately scheduling patients within guidelines, taking messages, utilizing templates, and routing clinical inquires to appropriate RN team, clinical or administrative team.
  • Pre-registering patients and verifying insurance eligibility.
  • Informing patients of financial responsibility and collecting pre-service payments.
  • Maintaining a strong customer focus while working collaboratively within POD/Team to meet multiple demands and high-volume patient scheduling needs.
  • Maintaining Patient Engagement Center service standards and Saratoga Hospital FAMILY Caring Standards.
  • Maintaining established job performance standards for position.
  • Cross-training in Operator Responsibilities, providing support as needed including:
    • Answering phone calls for multiple phone lines.
    • Assessing needs of the caller, answering questions, transferring the caller to the appropriate destination, and transcribing messages.
    • Assisting with clerical tasks such as receiving and routing of incoming faxes and documents, entering referrals into the EMR system, running reports and auditing charts to ensure closed loop referrals, and other tasks.

Requirements

  • Associates degree preferred or comparable experience.
  • Experience working in a medical office or hospital patient access or customer service setting.
  • Medical terminology understanding.
  • Experience using a 'Windows based personal computer' with proficient keyboard entry using a mouse as well as multiple computer programs.
  • CHAA (Certified Healthcare Access Associate) Certification preferred.

Qualifications

  • Preferred certifications or licenses.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Pay

Salary Range: $18.00-$27.45/hr based on experience and qualifications.
