Pre-Qualified Firefighter/ EMT, AEMT, EMTI, EMTP

About the role

We are hiring certified VA Firefighter I & II EMT, AEMT, EMT-I, EMT-P. Come work for the City of Hampton Fire and Rescue Division.

Responsibilities

• Combat, control, and extinguish fires;
• Raise and climb ladders to rescue individuals;
• Carry out firefighting activities;
• Salvage and preserve property;
• Perform emergency lifesaving activities;
• Transport sick, injured, or convalescent persons;
• Sanitize and decontaminate the ambulance;
• Drive or assist ambulance drivers;
• Maintain equipment, fire station buildings, and grounds;
• Inspect buildings for fire hazards;
• Participate in drills and courses.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or GED;
• At least 18 years old;
• Virginia or nationally registered EMT-B, AEMT, or EMT-P;
• Pass the Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) or present a CPAT card;
• Complete required training programs.

Qualifications

• Certified as a Virginia Firefighter I & II;
• EMT, AEMT, EMT-I, or EMT-P certification;
• Medical standards provided by a licensed physician;
• Successful completion of the department's physical agility test;
• Character background investigation and polygraph examination;
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Pay

This is a non-exempt position.

Schedule

Duties may be performed on various shifts to include 8 hour, 12 hour, 24 hour, or other shifts as directed, up to 56 hours per workweek in accordance with all applicable Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines.
