About the role
We are hiring certified VA Firefighter I & II EMT, AEMT, EMT-I, EMT-P. Come work for the City of Hampton Fire and Rescue Division.
Responsibilities
- Combat, control, and extinguish fires;
- Raise and climb ladders to rescue individuals;
- Carry out firefighting activities;
- Salvage and preserve property;
- Perform emergency lifesaving activities;
- Transport sick, injured, or convalescent persons;
- Sanitize and decontaminate the ambulance;
- Drive or assist ambulance drivers;
- Maintain equipment, fire station buildings, and grounds;
- Inspect buildings for fire hazards;
- Participate in drills and courses.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or GED;
- At least 18 years old;
- Virginia or nationally registered EMT-B, AEMT, or EMT-P;
- Pass the Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) or present a CPAT card;
- Complete required training programs.
Qualifications
- Certified as a Virginia Firefighter I & II;
- EMT, AEMT, EMT-I, or EMT-P certification;
- Medical standards provided by a licensed physician;
- Successful completion of the department's physical agility test;
- Character background investigation and polygraph examination;
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Schedule
Duties may be performed on various shifts to include 8 hour, 12 hour, 24 hour, or other shifts as directed, up to 56 hours per workweek in accordance with all applicable Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines.
