Pre-Litigation Attorney

Responsibilities
- Communicate with senior associates, paralegals, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently
- Attend court hearings or other legal proceedings, perform legal research, and work with senior associate attorneys to provide legal advice
- Organize and maintain files to ensure accuracy for other attorneys, paralegals, and staff
- Analyze conflicts in legal matters, advise clients on solutions, and negotiate on behalf of clients
- Create legal documents, including correspondence, briefs, motions, pleadings, contracts, affidavits, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings
- Maintain updated status documentation of all case files in the case management system
- Communicate effectively with clients to keep them informed about their cases
- Strategize optimal case resolutions and execute them effectively
- Determine value ranges for claims
- Engage in client communication and meetings
- Negotiate pre-litigation settlements with insurance companies and other parties
- Review and finalize settlement releases
- Handle medical and other liens
- Perform daily oversight of the legal assistant team
- Aid in new case evaluations
Requirements
- Active membership with the American Bar Association (ABA)
- Effective communication skills and problem-solving skills are necessary to work with all levels of staff and clients
- Candidates must have passed the bar exam
- Completion of a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school
- Willingness to learn from senior attorneys to meet our client needs and grow our client base
- Requires a bachelor’s degree and a J.D. degree
- Up-to-date knowledge of personal injury law/ tort law, wrongful death, civil law, medical terminology, and medical malpractice is imperative
- State license to practice law and State Bar Association membership are mandatory
- Superior research, negotiation, drafting, and communication skills are highly valued
- Computer proficiency is essential
