Job Description
A Full Day Pre-K Tutor works within our Preschool program during the school day under the direction of general education teachers providing assistance, direction, guidance and support to all students. The Pre-K Tutor will work with Pre-K students in the full day program.
Essential Job Functions
- Supports the implementation of planned lessons, play-based learning centers, and small group activities for all students
- Reinforces foundational academic, social-emotional, and developmental skills as directed by the classroom teacher
- Organizes, prepares, and sets up instructional and sensory materials for daily classroom activities
- Aids the teacher in observing students and administering routine Pre-K screenings or assessments
- Guides students through the full-day schedule, including arrival, transitions, outdoor play, rest time, and dismissal
- Facilitates healthy habits during full-day routines, including meals, snacks, independent handwashing, and self-care
- Aids with the physical hygiene and the physical needs of students, including toileting (if applicable)
- Promotes positive behavior and social skills using classroom-wide management strategies and individualized support plans as needed
- Facilitates the inclusion of related services (such as speech, OT/PT, or counseling) within the natural classroom environment
- Captures, tracks, and organizes classroom data, student observations, and daily progress for the teacher (when applicable)
- Communicates effectively with the classroom teacher and collaborating staff regarding student progress or concerns
- Ensures constant, active supervision of all students across all school settings (classroom, playground, cafeteria, restrooms)
- Maintains strict confidentiality regarding all student and family information
- Maintains professional boundaries regarding social media, dual relationships, and conflicts of interest
- Engages in continuous professional growth in early childhood and inclusive education practices
- May ride the school bus to assist with safe student transport

Required Physical And Mental Effort And Environmental Conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, squat, stretch, kneel, push and pull
- Ability to lift at least 30 lbs
- Ability to assist in physical management, if trained, and personal hygiene of students
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time
- Ability to hear normal sounds with some background noise and to communicate effectively
- Ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption
- Ability to attend to tasks/functions for more than 60 minutes at a time
- Ability to remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over long periods of time
Minimum REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A High School Diploma
- An Associates Degree
