Pre-K Master Teacher I/II - Evans Mills III

About the Role

The Master Teacher works with the Teacher Assistant and Teacher Aide to provide a healthy, safe, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for up to 18 preschool students during AM and PM sessions. The role includes supervising the Teacher Assistant and Teacher Aide, maintaining compliance with required training and documentation, and ensuring accurate recordkeeping. The Master Teacher reports directly to the Pre-K Coordinator.

Responsibilities

• Provide a developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool students.
• Supervise Teacher Assistant and Teacher Aide.
• Maintain compliance with required training and documentation.
• Keep accurate and detailed records.
• Serve as an advocate for children and families.
• Cooperate with staff to deliver quality programming for Pre-K children and families.

Requirements

• NYS Certification in Birth-2 or Special Education; or a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education; or an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood with experience in an early childhood setting.
• Previous experience in an early childhood education setting.
• Knowledge of child development and ability to work with young children.
• Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of program and agency-related information.
• Must provide independent transportation to perform job responsibilities.

Additional Conditions

• Employment is conditional upon a satisfactory medical exam and TB test.
• Fingerprint clearance required at the time of hire.
• Annual affidavit stating no indication in a child abuse or neglect case within the past year.
• Preference given to qualified in-house candidates.
