Pre K Classroom Teacher

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Hitchcock, Texas, seeks a responsible, energetic, and nurturing classroom teacher for Pre-K. This is a full-time contract position for the school year (August–May) with some additional training days.

About the Role

The successful candidate will facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing Archdiocesan-approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, addressing individual educational needs, and creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers school curriculum consistent with school goals and objectives.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials; translates plans into learning experiences.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit individual needs, including students with special needs.
• Instructs students in responsible digital citizenship and other subjects as specified by applicable laws and school procedures.
• Acquires professional knowledge through seminars, workshops, or research.
• Maintains accurate records of student activities, achievement, and attendance.
• Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Ensures student conduct aligns with school standards and maintains a functional learning atmosphere.
• Coordinates with staff to evaluate and assess curriculum; participates in faculty meetings and committees.
• Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids, supplies, and equipment; maintains inventory records.
• Administers standardized tests in accordance with testing programs.
• Follows and upholds all COVID protocols set forth by the school.
• Maintains classroom order and behavioral management for safety.
• Oversees students during non-instructional duties (e.g., lunch, carpool).
• Assists with morning, lunch, or afternoon duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Texas State Teaching Certification.
• Pass a criminal background check clearance.
• Training and verification in Safe Haven child abuse awareness.
• Commitment to the philosophy of Catholic school and value-oriented education.
• Current Catechist Certificate or working toward one.
• Ability to teach both in-person and remotely online.
• Mature, responsible, energetic, and nurturing with excellent interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• State Certification in the appropriate grade level preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related discipline.
• Master’s Degree in a related area preferred.
• Prior teaching experience will be considered.

Pay rate depends on education and experience.
