Pre K Classroom Teacher

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing Archdiocesan approved curriculum at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Hitchcock, Texas.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers school curriculum consistent with school goals and objectives.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
• Instructs students in the principles of responsible digital citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the school system.
• Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards as outlined in the Student & Faculty Handbooks, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Maintains record keeping of students learning and performance.
• Maintains classroom order and behavioral management to ensure the safety of the classroom.
• Oversees students in non-instructional duties, such as lunch, carpool, etc.
• Aids in morning; lunch, or afternoon duty as assigned.

Requirements

• Mature, responsible, energetic and nurturing with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Texas State Teaching Certification.
• Receive and pass a criminal background check clearance.
• Be trained and verified in Safe Haven child abuse awareness.
• Commitment to the philosophy of Catholic school and value-oriented education.
• Able to handle both face-to-face teaching and remote online teaching.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
• Knowledge of school curriculum and concepts.
• Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
• Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
• Ability to organize and coordinate work.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents in person, through electronic means, and in writing.
• Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Skills

• Ability to administer standardized tests in accordance with testing programs.
• Ability to select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintain inventory records.
• Ability to coordinate with other professional staff members, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
• Ability to administer and enforce school policies and procedures.

Benefits

Full-time contract basis with pay rate depending on education & experience. Work year: school days Aug. - May with some additional training days.
