About the Role

We are seeking a Practice Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of an assigned ophthalmology clinic. This role involves managing a team of clinical and non-clinical staff, ensuring high-quality patient care through training, performance monitoring, and compliance with clinical standards. The Practice Supervisor will coordinate with physicians and leadership to optimize clinical flow and patient experience, assist in reviewing clinic operations, and develop performance improvement plans, including detailed work plans, schedules, resource plans, and status reports.

Responsibilities

  • Fosters a positive and successful working environment, creating partnerships with team members, leadership, and providers.
  • Oversees and coordinates operations of the assigned clinic, ensuring adherence to established standards, protocols, and quality standards.
  • Manages clinical flow, including scheduling, patient intake, and testing procedures.
  • Assists with patient care during examinations, including taking vital signs, preparing instruments, educating patients on pre- and post-operative instructions, and ensuring accurate documentation of patient data (e.g., medical history, visual acuity testing, diagnostic results).
  • Educates and trains team members on proper performance of essential duties and ensures competency is attained.
  • Serves as a liaison between providers, technicians, and patients, addressing concerns and ensuring patient satisfaction.
  • Reviews and updates clinical protocols and procedures.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve clinic operations, patient care, and staff performance.
  • Assists in the development of process improvement projects following workflow and procedure assessments to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues and coordinates maintenance with appropriate vendors.
  • Resolves patient concerns using customer service skills, leadership, confidence, and knowledge to ensure positive, timely, and effective solutions.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct leadership of assigned team members.
  • Partners with Human Resources to attract, recruit, and retain top talent to support the organization’s mission and vision.
  • Ensures the team has the necessary resources and support to meet or exceed goals.
  • Establishes current and long-term goals for team members.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of prior healthcare operations, analyst, and/or administrator experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, healthcare administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical ophthalmology experience as a technician.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician, Scribe, or Assistant (COT, COS, COA).
  • Knowledge of MIPS compliance and optimization.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Highly analytical and process-oriented while able to think holistically and strategically.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to communicate, present, and influence all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including listening, negotiation, and presentation.
