Practice Manager, Primary & Urgent Care - Full-Time, Days
About the role
The Practice Manager, UCM Medical Group, is a 100% onsite position based in the greater Chicagoland area. This role works alongside the Primary Care & Urgent Care clinic teams.
Responsibilities
- Directly manages the daily operations of a community-based physician practice.
- Collaborates with key leaders across UCM in decision-making and ensures bidirectional flow of information.
- Promotes excellence in all areas of ambulatory operations and drives continuous process improvement.
- Focuses on the patient and family experience, quality and safety, coordination of care across the continuum, use of technological tools and solutions, metrics reporting, customer service, and oversees the budget, billing, and related revenue cycle services.
- Manages staff schedule and daily assignments.
- Maintains practice compliance with regulatory agencies (JCAHO, IDPH, CAP/CLIA).
- Ensures efficient patient throughput by collaborating with providers and staff.
- Makes real-time adjustments to performance metrics and daily reports.
- Maintains patient and family needs by actively monitoring performance metrics and participating in service recovery.
- Manages performance management and performance evaluations for all employees.
- Maintains the operating budget for labor and non-labor expenses.
- Oversees charge entry, denials, disputes, and billholds.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare and customer service, ideally overseeing an ambulatory practice framework.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to manage large and complex organizational units with varying needs.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with physician leaders, preferably in an academic medical center environment.
- Exceptional talent in the selection and mentoring of a high-quality team.
- Proven ability to use data to drive performance improvement.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications

Schedule
The Practice Manager, UCM Medical Group, works a 10-hour shift, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with additional 24-hour accountability. The exact schedule may vary based on department needs.
