About the role
As the Practice Manager you will manage the day-to-day operations of a large, multi-site outpatient practice or complex procedural practice and take complete ownership for successful operations including financial performance, patient access, volumes/growth, employee engagement and retention, patient experience, team experience, and value-based care. You will ensure high-quality patient care and customer service is delivered in the most financially efficient way.
You will work closely with Division/Section Chiefs, practice operations leadership, and clinical leadership on staff and provider recruitment, development, and retention. You will collaborate with Banner leaders to provide seamless, integrated service to patients and partner with marketing leadership to build Banner’s market share and brand. Additionally, you will work with Business Development, Public Relations, and Marketing to support location, provider, and specialty promotions, including media relations and community outreach events.
Responsibilities
- Ensure strong financial performance by implementing proper controls, preparing and executing budgets, monitoring payroll, approving supply orders, and managing inventory.
- Monitor provider documentation, coding accuracy, and timeliness to ensure accurate charge capture and resolve billing or coding issues.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize operations, workflows, provider templates, clinic schedules, and call schedules to drive efficiency, patient access, and exceptional results.
- Identify and implement areas for improvement, including quality indicators, to enhance operational performance.
- Develop and maintain a culture of safety to reduce errors and improve quality for patients, providers, and staff.
- Provide exceptional leadership, promote teamwork, and foster high employee and physician engagement.
- Strategically select, onboard, develop, reward, retain, and provide transparent performance feedback to staff, leaders, and physicians.
- Coordinate provider recruitment, manage physician contracts and employment changes, and oversee new provider setup and onboarding.
- Ensure compliance with accrediting bodies and government agencies through audits, education, training, and corrective action plans.
- Serve as the compliance liaison for designated practices and participate in affiliated partner site audits.
- Identify, communicate, and coordinate physical maintenance, equipment needs, and repairs to support employee engagement and patient expectations.
- Collaborate with Clinic Administrative leadership to resolve facility-related issues.
- Partner with marketing leadership to build and maintain community relationships, attract new customers, and support Banner’s brand positioning.
- Support location, provider, and specialty promotions through media relations, community events, and provider profile development.
- Monitor and optimize the patient experience by regularly reviewing data, coaching staff, and leading service recovery efforts.
- Lead by example to create a personalized experience for patients and facilitate patient transfers or terminations when necessary.
- Develop and execute plans to achieve short- and long-term goals, including compliance with operating and capital budgets and financial performance targets.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, finance, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in healthcare, business, retail, service, or hospitality with accountability for meeting or exceeding key performance metrics.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to lead a small business while operating within an integrated healthcare system.
- Ability to develop, implement, evaluate, and adjust an operational vision for clinics.
- High level of interpersonal skills to collaborate with operational and clinical staff with varying priorities.
- Ability to monitor clinic operations and revise processes as needed in a rapidly changing environment.
- Exceptional collaboration, communication, decision-making, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, leaders, and staff.
- Experience driving team and individual performance to meet or exceed key performance metrics.
- Ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an ambiguous environment with flexibility and composure.
- Strong change management skills and courage to address challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional experience or education in business, consumer, finance, or administration.
- Experience working in a managed care environment or integrated delivery network.
