PPM Staff Accountant 5.1
Job Summary
MOR PPM Inc. seeks a Staff Accountant in Society Hill, SC. The Staff Accountant works within the home office accounting department and contributes to the integrity of accounting data as well as financial reporting through assisting in the recording and verification of general ledger transactions. The Staff Accountant works closely with the Controller and Assistant Controller.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Aid in monthly financial statement preparation including preparing and recording of various closing journal entries as well as reviewing general ledger transactions.
- Perform month-end account reconciliations for general ledger accounts.
- Update and maintain both owned and leased fixed asset ledgers.
- Aid in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting required by parent company.
- Aid in monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reporting required by local and state governments as well as parent company.
- Prepare daily deposit of cash receipts.
- Review employee expense reports for proper cost coding.
- Monitor outstanding receivables to identify delayed or overdue payments.
- Research delayed or overdue payments via communications with billing team, project management team, and/or customer and document findings.
- Research financial and tax topics as needed.
- Respond to inquiries from management and parent company as needed.
- Aid in coordination of financial statement reviews and audits from both Internal Audit and external firms.
- Support financial decision-making by collecting, analyzing, investigating and reporting financial data.
- Contribute to accomplishing both accounting and organization mission by completing related tasks as needed.
- Organize and maintain financial records and related data.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills including communication, attention to detail, follow-through and organization.
- An analytical mindset with both research and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to think and work independently, as well as within a team environment.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Computer skills to include proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and database management.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in accounting/finance, preferably experience within the construction industry.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to complete hiring paperwork electronically through DocuSign.
- May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions as identified above.
- Must be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas.
- Must have full range of motion consistent with age.
- Must be able to climb and maintain balance ladders.
- Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms and other job-related noises.
- Visual acuity, depth perception and color discrimination consistent with that required to work at heights and on uneven surfaces.
- Safety/Steel toe shoes are required.
