About the Role
As a Powertrain Controls Software Engineering Intern, you will support the development of powertrain and connected software solutions for embedded control systems in automotive applications. This includes working on vehicle control units (VCU), propulsion control units (ECU) for combustion, hybrid, and electric systems, and transmission control units (TCU). You will be part of Bosch’s global development team, utilizing the latest generation micro-controllers, microprocessors, and AUTOSAR standards in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform rapid-prototyping to support functional requirement development.
- Develop manual and model-based code according to specifications.
- Conduct deep-dive analysis to improve hardware-software interfaces and develop automated test software for software testing.
- Test and validate new software features in vehicles, on engine dynamometers, and using Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL), Software-in-the-Loop (SiL), and/or Model-in-the-Loop (MiL) systems.
- Debug and troubleshoot software.
- Participate in program review meetings, interface studies, and design reviews.
- Support customer test trips in hot, cold, and high-altitude environments, providing local expertise for software functions.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (with Controls focus), Computer Science, Math, or Physics (with Controls focus), with at least one semester completed.
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Senior or Master’s level students.
- 1+ year of academic or industry experience with software languages and operating systems (real-time OS, C, or embedded C; assembly/Linux desired but not required).
- 1+ year of academic or industry experience with software development and debugging tools (MATLab/Simulink preferred; experience with Ascet, Labview, Lauterbach, etc. desired but not required).
- Proactive approach with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with Formula SAE, Hybrid, SolarCar, First Robotics, FutureCar, or EcoCAR activities is a plus.
Indefinite U.S. work authorization required; future sponsorship for work authorization is unavailable.
