Power Systems PM Field Technician

Description

Riggs Power Systems is hiring an experienced PM Power Field Technician to service and repair power generation equipment, including diesel and gas engines, generators, switchgear, and complex electrical systems. This field-based role supports our customers by delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality service.

What You’ll Do

• Diagnose and repair engines, generators, switchgear, and electrical components
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and load bank testing
• Support start-ups and commissioning on new power system installations
• Provide accurate service documentation and clear communication with the team and clients
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using CAT software, schematics, and service manuals
• Participate in an on-call rotation

Requirements

• Experience with diesel/gas engines, generators, switchgear, or power generation systems
• Load bank experience
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Experience with CAT 3500 & 3600 series engines
• Oil and Gas field experience
• Experience with start-up and commissioning (highly preferred)
• Familiarity with CAT, Cummins, or similar OEM systems
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and use laptop-based diagnostics
• Valid driver’s license; ability to work independently
• Willingness to travel (up to 50% overnight)

Important Information

• Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat
• Frequent exposure to risk of electrical shock and vibration
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
• Employee must be able to frequently lift 20 pounds and 50 pounds occasionally
• Required travel up to 50%
