Job Description
Join a dynamic group of Power System engineers responsible for the design, development, and integration of Power subsystems for the world's premier land-based combat vehicle producer. The Power system team is part of the System Engineering group at GDLS. Our mission is to investigate, design, develop, and integrate power subsystem capabilities for current and next-generation vehicle platforms. The team works within larger system groups with responsibility and authority to deliver design requirements, perform analysis, guide hardware and software design teams, and integrate functionality of their systems/subsystems onto GDLS platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead Power System design and development efforts regarding a mix of advanced capabilities, including but not limited to: Power subsystem design and integration, Power system architecture decisions, Advanced technology trade studies, Work internally and externally with vendors/partners to integrate functionality of their systems/subsystems seemingly onto GDLS platforms, Develop CAE models for complex hybrid electric systems – Integration of HVBattery, ISG, E-Motor, DC/DCs, power distribution devices into a Power subsystem model, Creation and integration of CAE models into a Power subsystem model to dynamically evaluate system performance for various external factors (Drive cycles, tolerances, loading profiles, environmental and road load conditions, etc.), Perform component and systems sizing analysis for various conditions based on customer requirements, Understand features/system requirements and the ability to translate requirements into validation test procedures and use cases, Provide direction for team members including technology roadmaps and mentorship, Approve/Develop documentation, SSDD, SRS, CANICDs, and other artifacts for implementation to the power hardware production team, Participate in internal and customer demonstrations, Work closely with cross-functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate critical interfaces, use cases, drive cycles profiles, operational performance requirements, and design of the overall system, Participate in peer reviews, identify, track, and assess solutions to defects, Conduct research and evaluation of emerging technologies in Hybrid Electric Systems (HVBatteries, E-motors, Powerelectronic devices and architectures, methodologies, and integration strategies)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Systems, or related technical field
- 7-10 years plus in a related role desired. Experience with electrical power systems (power generation, power distribution, power management, and energy storage) of military or automotive vehicles, including specifications, development, design, testing, integration, and troubleshooting of vehicle electrical power systems and their associated hardware components is required. Strong knowledge with hybrid electrical architectures and system integration with different voltages, strong background in modeling and simulation of electrical systems, strong background in model-generated coding applications, i.e., MATLAB/Simulink and ANSYS, Comfortable with supporting integration issues in a lab-agnostic vehicle, highly motivated performer, works well in team and individually, goal-oriented, keeps the team focused on task, able to multitask on simultaneous development projects, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and mission scope, Have an proactive attitude and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime, Strong communication, interpersonal, and people skills required, Ability to travel when needed, minimal travel required for this role

Nicetohave (additional qualifications)
- Experience with HIL and SIL bench-level testing
- Experience using Vector testing suite of products (Canalyzer, CANoe, Capl)
- Knowledge of J1939 CAN Bus
- Experience in design, development, and integration of military vehicles
- Experience with defense department processes and documentation standards
- Experience with version control systems like GIT, issue tracking system like JIRA, and collaboration tools like Confluence, etc.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodology
- Familiarity with Team Center and VisMockup
