POWER SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Essential Job Tasks

• Tests and calibrates relays at/for transmission, industrial, and distribution substations.
• Ensures correct calibration and operation of these relays.
• Tests generator protection relays.
• Understand various functions on these relays and assist others as needed.
• Builds test plans to facilitate testing.
• Performs maintenance and troubleshooting of fault recorder, event recorder, and SPC device communications equipment.
• Adheres to NERC CIP and O&P (company and SPC) policies and provides accurate compliance documentation for all work with no supervision.
• Assists other groups (SPC-Const. and Maintenance, Generation, external customers, etc.) with troubleshooting relays and associated equipment.
• Rotational on-call status for 24/7 response during call is required.
• Will consider Power Service Technician A, B or C

Position Requirements

• Power Service Technician A: High School Diploma/GED + 5 years experience required. Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics + 3 years experience preferred. Must be proficient with computers and various software.
• Power Service Technician B: High School Diploma/GED + 2 years experience required. Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics + 1 year experience preferred. Must be proficient with computers and various software.
• Power Service Technician C: High School Diploma/GED required. Must be proficient with computers and various software.

Compensation Information

• Power Service Technician A: $41.05 - $51.25 (min. - mid.)
• Power Service Technician B: $30.05 - $37.55 (min. - mid.)
• Power Service Technician C: $24.35 - $30.40 (min. - mid.)
