Position Summary

The Power Rental Technician is responsible for servicing and repairing various types of machinery such as diesel engines, electric power generators, compressors, HVAC, and allied products. Extensive training is required to remain in the technician training program.

Essential Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Plans and performs minor repairs using correct tools and procedures
  • Orders and returns parts for assigned jobs in a timely manner
  • Performs tasks on basic components including engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical components: remove and install; disassemble and reassemble; perform minor adjustments
  • Demonstrates proper use of service information systems
  • Works as a helper in field service with experienced Technicians as required
  • Adheres to and follows all applicable and required safety standards and procedures
  • Works independently in the field as required
  • Demonstrates and maintains a positive attitude, showing commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions efficiently

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • A minimum of one (1) year's work experience involving mechanical repairs or a combination of relevant experience and equivalent technical education is required
  • Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills are required

Skills and Competencies

  • Intermediate engine, transmission, hydraulic, electrical diagnostic, and repair skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills

Job Training

  • Area specific technical training
  • OSHA and MSHA required training
  • Vendor technical software (Infocast, Liftnet, SIMSi, etc.)

Safety Summary

  • Work is normally performed in a Service Department shop or on the location of customer job sites
  • Exposure to physical risks and all-weather conditions is associated with this position
  • Standing on hard surfaces for extended periods of time is often required

Physical Requirements

  • Pass pre-employment background check, physical exam (including drug screen), and meet all physical requirements for position
  • Ability to speak, listen, write, and type effectively
  • Reaching, grasping, and stooping
  • Kneeling and crawling under equipment
  • Climbing ladders and equipment
  • Lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs.
