Power Plant Technician

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

• Inspects, repairs, and maintains various types of plant equipment
• Directs the work of employees
• Understands and ensures proper operation of the plant
• Makes decisions regarding plant oversight in the absence of management
• Repairs and calibrates equipment
• Troubleshoots equipment and systems
• Develops and implements plant operating procedures
• Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures
• Trains others in area of expertise
• Performs technical work or analysis of processes in areas of expertise
• Gains knowledge of the entire plant cycle and how it functions

Education, Experience, And Skill Requirements

• 2 - 4 years of related experience
• Satisfactory completion of Tier 1 job performance measures composed of basic: Operations, Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrument and Controls
• High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent
• If applicable, candidate will hold the required level of state license as recognized by the governing body of that particular state (MA, OH)
• Demonstrate standard computer based skills
• Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communications skills
• If applicable, candidate must meet the requirement of PT1-E

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to frequently climb ladders
• Enter confined spaces
• Climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways at elevations of 75 feet and more
• Crawl to and through confined space areas
• Lift objects up to 50 pounds
• This job requires the ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells
• Must be able to wear a respirator and use other safety equipment as required

Key Metrics

• Progression of skill within primary skill set
• Satisfactory completion of Tier 2 job performance measures predominantly composed of Sign-offs of demonstrating different primary and auxiliary system operations and maintenance relevant to primary skill
• Demonstrate continual self improvement in job skills and knowledge
